A speaking valve enables tracheotomized patients with an intact larynx to phonate. It replaces the closure of the 15 mm connector with the finger. The valve is placed on the 15 mm connector of a tracheostomy tube (fenestrated if necessary) without cuff or with a completely deflated cuff. Inhalation takes place unhindered via the tube. For example, during exhalation, a silicone membrane of the valve closes and diverts the airflow into the natural airway. The air flows along the tube with deflated cuff and through the fenestration, then past the vocal cords into the upper airways. This allows the patient to phonate, provided the anatomy is not impaired.
The TRACOE phon assist I speaking valve has two infinitely adjustable side openings. By turning the head part of the valve, the breathing resistance can be individually adjusted. Expiration then takes place partially via the side openings and the natural airway. The TRACOE phon assist I speaking valve is available in different versions. Whether transparent or in orange signal color (for increased distinguishability from other attachments), with or without oxygen supply port, for attaching to a 15 mm connector or a 22 mm housing.
For laryngectomized patients with a voice prosthesis (shunt valve), the hands-free speaking valveTRACOE phon assist II offers an option for phonation. It is basically open and the integrated silicone membrane can be continuously adjusted. In addition, there is the heat & moisture exchangers (HME) TRACOE humid assist II, which can be attached directly onto the valve. The valve is available for connection to a 15 mm connector or to a 22 mm housing.
The TRACOE humid assists are heat & moisture exchangers (HMEs) that filter, humidify and warm the inhaled air like a "artificial nose". They are available with foam or paper filters, with or without an oxygen supply port and for connecting to a 15 mm connector or in a 22 mm receptacle. An HME is also available for children.
The TRACOE occlusion caps are available for temporary closure of the 15 mm connector of a tracheostomy tube, e.g. during the weaning process. For patients who wear placeholders, such as silicone short tubes or stoma buttons with a 22 mm housing, the TRACOE stopper serves as an option.
For laryngectomized patients with a voice prosthesis (shunt valve), the hands-free speaking valve TRACOE phon assist II offers the possibility of phonation. It is basically open and the integrated silicone membrane can be adjusted continuously. In addition, there is the TRACOE humid assist II heat & moisture exchanger (HME), which can be attached directly onto the valve. The valve is available for connection to a 15 mm connector or in a 22 mm housing.
The TRACOE comfort plus is a handmade long-life tracheostomy tube. It has a inner cannula with a speaking valve type B and a inner cannula with a 22 mm housing, e.g. for connecting a humidity and heat exchanger (HME) with a flat base.
